Message from Marty and Jenny
Early September we are moving to Yokohama (greater Tokyo) for 2.5 years.
We’ve been invited by the Japanese Church to help support them as they seek to make the most of opportunity to reach out to the community through both the Rugby World Cup (12 Rugby cities) 2019, then the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
The Church in Japan is quite small (around .5% of the population) so the Church is hoping these 2 events will help the church leave the building and be more actively engaged in the community.
I, Marty, have been in Japan quite often these past 18 months and we’re building some strong teams across the country – we are not starting from scratch.
For the last 15 years since we moved to Europe we have been working alongside Churches across Europe supporting them to connect with the community particularly through Community Festivals.
Marty and Jenny wanted to say farewell and to invite anyone interested in finding out more to an evening on Monday the 3rd of September. It is at 8pm in the Church centre. There will be wine and nibbles.
Then 2 days later we leave with our dog Tilly.
If you can make it we would like to see you.
Finally a request for any who may have a storage suggestion ideas. We have stored our furniture for the last 2.5 years in a garage (thanks Terri, Akiko and Esther.) Is anyone aware of a half size garage where we could store our things or failing that a cheap storage centre? If so please email Marty with any leads.
We will miss our Church community here at St Peters. We will be back in France by 2021 for language school, then start getting ready for the Rugby World Cup 2023 and the 2024 Paris Olympics.
It is not a final farewell!

"I got up early one morning
And rushed right into the day;
I had so much to accomplish
That I didn't have time to pray.
Problems just tumbled about me,
And heavier came each task;
'Why doesn't God help me?' I wondered.
He answered, 'You didn't ask.'
I wanted to see joy and beauty
But the day toiled on gray and bleak
I wondered why God didn't show me
He said, 'But you didn't seek',
I tried to come into God's presence;
I used all my keys in the lock.
God gently and lovingly chided,
'My child, you didn't knock.'
I woke up early this morning,
And paused before entering the day;
I had so much to accomplish
That I had to take time to pray."
Bon week-end à toutes et à tous et passer de bon vacances
